OPAZ pays a visit to the Belgian Port of Antwerp
Antwerp (Belgium) - October 14, 2022:
HE Dr. Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidy, Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ), met with Cathy Berx, the Governor of Antwerp Province, during his visit to the Kingdom of Belgium with a delegation, including a number of CEOs of companies operating in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD).
The delegation visited the Port of Antwerp and held meetings with CEOs and chairpersons of different key companies operating in the Port and the economic zone adjacent to the Port. This visit comes as part of OPAZ efforts to attract these companies to invest in Duqm, in particular and the free zones in general. His Excellency and the accompanying delegation met with a number of Omani trainees, who are on a training scholarship arranged within the cooperation programme between the Port of Duqm and the Belgian Port of Antwerp.
As part of the visit, the delegation will visit a number of facilities and chemical industry companies to get familiarised with the production chains related to producing and exporting green hydrogen, ways of planning corridors for transporting hydrogen and ammonia from production facilities to ports, and the required facilities, including aspects related to storage, transportation and public safety in preparation for the settlement of these industries in Duqm and other nearby areas.
