Exploring Economic Cooperation Opportunities Between the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidy, Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ), met with His Excellency Engineer Khalil bin Salimah, Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Industrial Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, In the presence of His Excellency Ibrahim bin Saad bin Bishan, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Sultanate of Oman, and a number of officials from both sides, at the Authority’s headquarters in Muscat Governorate. The meeting discussed opportunities for economic cooperation in the fields of special economic zones, free zones, and industrial areas between the two brotherly countries.
The meeting focused on ways to maximize the benefits of production chains and raw materials in the factories operating within the special economic zones and free zones in both countries.
It also reviewed the executive steps for the Integrated Economic Zone in Al Dahirah (EZAD), highlighting the announcement of the infrastructure tender for the project. A total of 12 consortiums comprising Omani and Saudi companies have purchased the tender documents. The discussions also touched on facilitating the passage of industrial products between the two countries through the Empty Quarter border crossing.
