OPAZ visit Delegation to the Republic of India

The Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones OPAZ organized an official visit to the Republic of India with the aim of enhancing economic cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of India in the fields of special economic zones, free zones, and industrial areas. The visit also aimed to discuss opportunities for attracting investments and exchanging experiences and best practices between the two friendly countries.

The delegation, headed by His Excellency Engineer Ahmed bin Hassan Al Dheeb, Deputy Chairman of OPAZ, along with a group of CEOs from the regions overseen by the Authority, including Public Establishment For Industrial Estates – Madayn the Salalah Free Zone, and Khazaen Economic City, visited several Indian industrial and economic institutions. These included the projects of the Jindal Steel Group in the Anjol zone of India, where they were introduced to the operational processes of the steel factory. The delegation also visited the O.P. Jindal Global University, exploring its academic programs, research centers, educational museum, and service facilities.

Coinciding with the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in the Republic of India, in cooperation with OPAZ, organized a business forum on February 6, 2025. The forum was attended by over eighty Indian companies operating in various sectors such as pharmaceuticals, food, medical products, and energy. During the forum, the delegation presented a working paper outlining investment opportunities in the regions overseen by the Authority, incentives offered to investors, and key target sectors in the zones. Additionally, the Oman Law House presented a briefing on the legislative frameworks and regulations in the Sultanate of Oman.

In his speech at the event, His Excellency Engineer Ahmed bin Hassan Al Dheeb emphasized the importance of the bilateral relations between the two countries. He pointed out that the Republic of India is one of Oman’s key investment partners. His Excellency also discussed the role of special economic zones, free zones, and industrial cities in attracting investments and enhancing economic cooperation between the two countries, stressing the importance of exploring investment opportunities in the Sultanate of Oman.
